Homemade BBQ Chicken Pizza
The football fever is soaring high with everyone waiting and cheering with bated breath for their favorite team. I must admit that I have never been a sports person. Even my repeated attempts to appreciate the game could not uproot my deeply entrenched belief that the game is just too aggressive for my liking.
What is more enjoyable for a football fan than having pizza night at home while watching the best team battle it out? If you’ve never tried BBQ Chicken Pizza before, you absolutely should because it is a total treat.
This BBQ Chicken Pizza has it all- a homemade pizza crust, sweet BBQ sauce, juicy shredded chicken, red onions, bell peppers, jalapenos and lot of mozzarella. Big on flavors and always a hit with the family!
I have made the pizza crust from scratch. Though it may seem a bit difficult, it is really easy and almost anyone can make it. However, this pizza will come together incredibly fast with a store bought pizza crust and some precooked shredded chicken.

Ingredients:
-
For the Pizza Crust
- 3/4 cup warm water
- 1 1/2 tsp active dry yeast
- 2 tsp sugar
- 1 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/3 cup Barbeque Sauce
- 1 cup cooked chicken, shredded
- 1 1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella
- 2 red onions, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 2 jalapeƱos, diced
For the Pizza Toppings
Instructions:
- To make the pizza dough: In a medium mixing bowl, mix together the warm water, yeast and sugar. Gently stir once with a whisk and let it sit for 10 minutes.
- Add in the flour, olive oil and salt. You will get a shaggy dough at this point.
- Then, knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for a few minutes until a soft dough ball forms. Place it in a bowl sprayed with cooking spray (to prevent sticking). Cover with a kitchen towel and let it rise for 60 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- After 60 minutes, the dough should have risen to about double it's original size. Gently punch down the dough on your countertop and press it out (or use a rolling pin) until it's about 1/4" thick.
- Gently transfer the pizza dough to the prepared baking sheet.
- Spread the barbeque sauce evenly on the pizza crust.
- Sprinkle half of the cheese evenly over the barbecue sauce, reserving some for the end. Then, add in the cooked shredded chicken, red onions, bell peppers and jalapeƱos, over the pizza crust. Add the remaining cheese on top of the pizza.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and cheese is melted. Enjoy immediately!
