As much as I love to cook elaborate meals, sometimes all I need is a simple, decent meal after a grueling day. I believe that more ingredients always don't produce a tasty dish. Sometimes the beauty of food lies in the use of simple, fresh ingredients that can shine on their own.

It has been a while since I shared a pasta recipe, so finally decided to share one. 30 minutes is all you need to make this delicious Spicy Sausage Pantry Pasta. It is a super easy and incredibly flavourful weeknight dinner recipe! And most importantly, you probably have all the ingredients hanging out in your kitchen cupboards already!

Pasta paired with spicy Italian sausages-it is just a match made in heaven. Spicy chunks of sausages cooked in a homemade tomato garlic sauce, a heavy sprinkle of parmesan cheese, and a touch of fresh basil -you’ll love every bite of this.

With a side salad and a loaf of crusty bread, this is an easy dinner that you can even whip up for a romantic evening.

Some Extra Tips
  • For this recipe, you can also use any other pasta of your choice such as penne, rigatoni, or macaroni.
  • If you want a more creamy, velvety texture you can pour some heavy cream into the tomato sauce as it simmers.
  • If you are not a fan of pork sausages, you can swap them with chicken or turkey sausages. Be sure to add more olive oil to account for the extra fat. But the taste will obviously vary.

Ingredients:
  • 450g spaghetti
  • 450g Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped

  2. Add the olive oil to a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add in the onion and saute for 5-6 minutes. Stirring regularly, till the onion becomes soft.
  3. Add the sausages.Use a wooden spoon to break the sausage into fine bite-sized crumbles as it cooks.
  4. Add the garlic along with the oregano, chilli flakes, fennel seeds, salt and black pepper before stirring in the crushed tomatoes. Simmer for 10-15 minutes over a low heat until reduced a little.
