Greek Yogurt and Fruit Parfait
Ah, spring is finally in the air! While a bowl of oatmeal is a morning staple in our household, spring is the time to ditch the bowl and gravitate towards all things colorful and vibrant like Smoothies, Chia Puddings, and Yogurt Parfaits.
This Yogurt Parfait combines creamy Greek yogurt, fresh berries, and crunchy granola that are layered parfait-style in glass jars. A delicious make-ahead breakfast for busy mornings, a healthy afternoon snack, or an impressive brunch for your next spring gathering!
Each layer is brimming with flavor, color, and texture. Not only does it taste delicious, but also is visually appealing when served in small glass jars.
What is a Parfait?
In France, a parfait (meaning perfect) refers to a frozen dessert that is made from a base of sugar syrup, egg, and cream. The American version, on the other hand, consists of layers of probiotic-rich yogurt, granola, and nuts and topped off with fruits or whipped cream and is usually served in a tall glass.
Are these Parfaits healthy?
If nutrition is your goal, be wary of store-bought, pre-made parfaits. They may appear to be healthy, when in reality, you may be putting high amounts of fats and sugars into your body. When you make a yogurt parfait at home, you have complete control over the ingredients you put inside, making it a healthy option for breakfast.
Our recipe features Greek yogurt which is an excellent source of protein, calcium, and probiotics, and Easy and Healthy Homemade Granola that is lower in fats and sugar than most store store-bought brands and so addictive. I also packed in fresh strawberries and blueberries for vitamins, fiber, and flavor. The takeaway here is that a yogurt parfait can be healthy when made with wholesome and nutritious ingredients.

Yes! You can make these Parfaits as part of your weekly meal plan. However, I don’t suggest fully assembling these too far ahead of time as the granola will lose its crunchy texture and become soggy.Just prepare the layers of Greek yogurt and fruit in jars and store them in the refrigerator. When you are ready to eat, just add in the granola and enjoy!
Variations
- Fruit: You can use fruits like sliced bananas, sliced apples, raspberries, and blackberries.
- Nuts and Seeds: Feel free to add nuts like walnuts, pecans, sliced almonds, sunflower seeds, and chia seeds for added protein and crunch.
- Yogurt: To make it dairy-free and vegan, replace Greek yogurt with Coconut milk Yogurt.
